Some random thoughts for 10/9/06

The big news tonight is North Korea tested a Nuclear Weapon. Depending on who you listen to the weapon was pretty much like the one we dropped on Nagasaki. North Korea doesn't have the technology to put one on a missile but you would think that North Korea was the old Soviet Union and they just put a nuke in Cuba. When it comes to North Korea and more specifically Kim Jon Ill he has what you can call an inferiority complex. He's the little runt of the old commie guard. China is the big dog so they get all the attention. He's the fearless leader who is leading his country true to the ideology of Marx and Lennon yet China gets all the attetnion.

So he played his trump card and got himself some attention. I'm sure Mark Foley is sending him a gift basket as we speak.

So North Korea has a working nuclear weapon.

Who gives a shit. I mean seriously so they have a weapon or two (maybe 10 or 20...who knows). We have 1000 times that. But on the same token China has about 10 times as many as them and the last thing they want is Kim thinking he's all important and threatening everyone. Lets say Kim gets pissed and says he will attack Seoul or Japan. Before Bush could even give the go order China would be all over North Korea and North Korea would become part of China.

Kim Jon Ill is only around because China allows him to live. Granted I'm pretty sure one of our covert op's could easily take him out but the fact remains that China basically keeps North Korea alive. The country by all acounts is worse off then some African nations. So I am not worried about North Korea. I'm worried about Bush getting us into another war and the draft being restarted. Kim Jon Ill having a power trip...not so much.

Now much like the case I laid out for Iraq in 2002 in school, the big issue is not that North Korea has the bomb but who they sell the bomb to. Iran has alot of it's missile technology from North Korea. If Kim wants to sell a bomb to finance another monster movie then it would be a problem. There's all ready rumblings of UN Sanctions but Russia and China would never go for that. There's reports Japan has war ships steaming towards North Korea right now. A blockcade is certain.

Earlier on Drudge's radio show someone mentioned how North Korea actually has the second most amount of submarines in Asia so if things heat up we could actually see some old fashion submarine warfare in that part of the world. But like I said I don't think it will come to that.

Of course I could be wrong and this all could be Karl Rove's October Surrprise to save the GOP's sorry asses in the November election. Who knows...who cares.

But if you happen to know someone in the Military who is stationed in Korea or in the surrounding area it couldn't hurt to say a prayer or two right now for them.
